The bottomless pit / mud flood connection

Revelation 9:2 likens the bottomless pit to a volcano. So, was the catastrophic 1815 Mount Tambora eruption, which possibly caused the mud flood (volcanic ash/soil build-up), a time when the pit was intentionally opened?
