It discusses an Advertisement in 1700 Amsterdam. The poster pictures a South American tapir that was on display at an Amsterdam inn called the White Oliphant, or White Elephant. The text in the Poster follows with a broad invitation « to all Gentlemen, Ladies,. Burghers, Merchants, and furthermore to alI Lovers of Animals » to come and see this rarity « which many writers say … does not exist anywhere in the world. » It had been « captured with great difficulty and cost in the River Euphrates in AMERICA. » !!
