Paul teaches faith alone in these clear passages:
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. [Moral advantage to not adding works, for tempted to boast.] (Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV.)
Also in 1 Cor. 15:1-4 KJV
15 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in mind what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that [1] Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And [2] that he was buried, and that [3] he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
Also in Romans 10:8-9 KJV:
8 “But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
9 That if [1] thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and [2] shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
Paul emphatically explains it in Romans 4:4-5 NKJV:
.4 Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt.
[GRACE MUST BE CHEAP – FAITH AND CONFESSION, BUT NO WORKS, OR OTHERWISE IT IS NOT GRACE].
5 But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness, (Romans 4:4-5 NKJV.)
Yahweh refutes that one can be saved by faith alone in an ungodly state, i.e., without repentance from sin, turning from evil, returning to love God and obeying His commands. God explains what He thinks of faith alone saving the ungodly, as Paul claims:
« I will not justify the ungodly. » (Exodus 23:7, KJV, ASV.)
« He that justifieth the ungodly …[is] an abomination to Yahweh. » (Proverbs 17:15.)
But Paul teaches that God’s love is unconditional:
38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39 KJV.)
